Gucci Group posted a same-store sales increase of 16% for the second quarter, before the impact of currency, sales and acquisitions.  Quarterly sales of EUR 761 beat the average analyst estimate by 2.1%.

Director of Finance for Gucci parent PPR Jean-Francois Palus said the company's higher-end product mix was proving favorable.  "Footfall in the stores has been very good," said Palus.

In addition to Gucci, PPR owns jeweler Boucheron, retailers Conforma and Fnac, and labels Stella McCartney, Sergio Rossi, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen and Puma.
