Stella McCartney Picks Outsider as CEO (12/4)

Printer-Friendly Format

Stella McCartney has tapped Lanvin's current director of business development, Fred Lukoff, as its new CEO and President.  He will replace Marco Bizzarri who is moving to head up Bottega Veneta.  Both companies are divisions of Gucci Group.

According to London's TimesOnline, profits at Stella McCartney have been on the rise.  From a loss of £1.2 million in 2006, the company passed break-even last year by posting a £180,000 profit.  Last month, the company announced a 2008 profit of £1.1 on a 24% revenue increase.

In making the appointment, Gucci Group CEO & President Robert Polet cited Lukoff's proven track record in developing luxury brands.  The 39-year old Lukoff is widely credited with reviving the Lanvin brand.  He will start at Stella McCartney on 23 February 2009.
