Neiman Marcus CEO Burton Katz will step down Oct. 6 and be replaced by Karen Katz, who currently serves as CEO of Neiman stores.

Tansky will continue to serve as non-executive chairman.

The company also announced that Chief Financial Officer James Skinner will take on the role of chief operating officer.  James Gold, CEO of the company's Bergdorf Goodman unit, has been made president of specialty retail where he will be responsible for merchandising and store operations for Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman stores.

Tansky has had an illustrious career in retail, serving previously as CEO of Bergdorf Goodman and President of Saks Fifth Avenue.  In addition to industry honors, in 2002 he was designated a "Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur" by the French government for his promotion of French-made merchandise in America.
